Think the only way to burn those calories is in the gym? Here’s a more sustainable way

Unlike other forms of exercise, such as going to the gym, many hikers report that hiking does not feel like exercise or working out.

One study (1) showed that hikers burned more calories than runner or walkers.

It states, “For many walkers and hikers, physical activity was incidental to other activities such as sightseeing, socialising, and experiencing nature”.

Because we’re not doing it just for exercise, and we get pleasure from sightseeing, being in nature and socialising, it’s not a chore.

It’s no coincidence then that it becomes more sustainable, and we can do it for longer.

On top of this, unlike a gym, you get the added health benefits associated with being out in nature.

Finally, there’s no monthly subscription fee. It’s a hobby that’s accessible to the majority of people.
